SEAL SONGS
Two tales of love lost and found by the English seaside.
by Jennifer Fell Hayes
directed by Kathy Gail MacGowan
presented by Thisbe productions
in the
Midtown International Theater Festival
July 13th-31st, 2009

“…poetic and magical love, loss and healing … lyrical dialogue … funny and touching … Atcheson is mesmerizing and Green is an ideal straight man ... Both plays are a delight to watch and Atcheson and Green, along with direction by MacGowan, create such a wonderful sense of time and place that you can almost hear the seagulls and smell the salty sea air.”

FROM RUSSIA WITH ANGST

June 11th - 27th, 2009
on the Main Stage
at
WorkShop Theater Company
“the true gem of the evening … Richard Kent Green’s direction is reminiscent of so many Chekhov parlor dramas, grounding the piece as a Russian period piece and then subverting the genre.” -

I sincerely hope theatregoers will find time to enjoy this delightful offering …it overflows with the true spirit of the season…cleverly adapted by Andrew Joffe and imaginatively staged by Kathleen Brant … O. with Marta Reiman*, PJ Sosko* and Dana Watkins*

ENOUGH FOR ALL
Book and Lyrics by Dana Leslie Goldstein
Music by Jon Goldstein
Directed by Rob McIntosh
Richard Kent Green toured local schools in Theater Garden Inc.'s musical history of the first Thanksgiving.
This TYA (Theater for Young Audiences) Equity tour took RKG, Paul Aguirre, Seth Cooperman, Lindsay Levine and Jason Strong - with Ben Chinn along to provide guitar accompaniment - to Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey throughout November of '05. The cast played over a dozen characters - Native Americans, Pilgrims and sailors - of 1621.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++.

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
Richard Kent Green played King Herod (and many others) in a newly-realized production of this classic rock opera conceived, produced & directed by Doug Thoms for LiveStage Performance.
"witty revival...easy on the ears... excellent six-piece rock band...strong choral work from the ensemble...the production does indeed give some idea of what Jesus would do: he would kick back and hum along."  - Marlon Hurt, OffOffOnline.com

NOT SO RECENTLY:

NATIONAL COMMERCIAL
Richard Kent Green appeared in one of the last episodes of truth.org's
"Fair Enough" campaign. These hilarious spots
come with a serious message, shot in 3-camera,
sit-com style by director Marty Granger.
( check out the original series: http://adland.tv/commercials/truthorg-fair-enough-find-out-2005-015-usa?page=1 )
In this one, EDIBLE CIGARETTES, those wacky
tobacco execs toss out new product ideas to two
cigarette factory technicians in lab coats. Echoing
Penn & Teller, one tech does all the talking (Jarel Davidow)
|while the other (RKG) reacts and mimes input.
The spot was seen on MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and TheN (Noggin at night).

FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Seven comedies about international
sex, religion and politics
by Rich Orloff
directed by Holli Harms
On the Mainstage at the WorkShop,
a co-production of the WorkShop and the
Foolish Theatrical Company.
Richard Kent Green played four roles (and four nationalities)
in this hilarious and pithy evening of one-acts.
Reviews:
"Bright, zany comedies...Gary Mink, Richard Kent Green
and Kim Reed assume various characters and accents with
aplomb...a good dose of humor"

- Andy Propst, American Theater Web
"Funny lines, playful gags, and a few surprises...
a thoroughly enjoyable evening."

- Jo Ann Rosen, nytheatre.com

OK, OTHER MEMORABLE CREDITS:

ONE LIFE TO LIVE
RKG played Jeremy, a butler, in a short scene with stars Phil Cary (Asa Buchanan) and Dan Gauthier (Kevin Buchanan) at the end of an episode that aired Monday August 16th, 2004, on ABC.

SHOCKED AND AWED
RKG directed an evening of political sketch theater
by William Kovacsik
in the Jewel Box at the WorkShop
Joe Franklin said "Terrific!"

LOL
RKG starred in Tony Sportiello's brilliant
internet sex-chat-room psychodrama/comedy.
"...there is one reason to see this
play...acting, acting, acting...trust me, it is just that good...
if the promise of great acting is not enough to convince
you to see LOL...there is always the sex."

- Sarah Bolson, OffOffOnline.com
"...played to perfection by Richard Kent Green...
LOL morphs from a jolly romantic comedy to a
supernatural/psychological thriller...an intriguing
exploration of the newest landscape of relationships
and sex...a good deal of fun...the entire cast is terrific...."

- nytheatre.com review by Martin Denton - July 10, 2003

CERTAIN SOULS
Ken Jawarowski, a member playwright at the WorkShop Theater Company, channeled O. Henry in these monologues: seven characters who each tell their own life-changing story. People are saying the piece RKG performed - The Brightest Light - is the best work he's ever done. It's certainly the best monologue he's ever had the chance to perform. Directed by Thomas Cote' for the WorkShop Mainstage.
"Certain Souls...designed to amuse, intrigue, enlighten, and ultimately move...winning. The Brightest Light...the brightest laughs on the bill...grabbed viewers...Richard Kent Green portrayed the down-to-earth, likable loner."
- OOBR Review by Elias Stimac
"surprising twists...robust storytelling... well cast...director Thomas Cote' is to be applauded for the...excellence of the actors."
- SHOWBUSINESS WEEKLY Review by Randy Kandel

KING HENRY IV, PARTS 1 & 2
WorkShop director Jerry Less had the same idea as did Lincoln Center - put the two parts together into a one-evening cutting...but Jerry's was only two hours long, and had only seven players!
RKG took on six roles (Richard II, Bardolph, Northumberland, Glendower, Shallow, etc.) in this upbeat, modern-dress version of Shakespeare's classic history plays in the round - in the Jewel Box Theater at the WorkShop.
"pure storytelling...it is the acting, however, that proves
to be the brightest jewel in Henry's crown...invigorating
and, at times, hysterically funny. Consider this a must-see."
- Stephen Morgan-Mackay, OffOffOnline.com

THE BARKSDALE CONFESSION
by William C. Kovacsik   directed by Richard Kent Green
The fictionalized account of a scandal that rocked Hillsdale College, an ultra-conservative Michigan campus, in 1999. Greek tragedy on an American scale.
THE BARKSDALE CONFESSION,
with Jeff Paul, Larry Sharp and Dena Tyler
Opened the 10th Anniversary season on the WorkShop's Main Stage on February 11th, 2004.
"William C. Kovacsik's new play, 'The Barksdale Confession'...is a fine, well-constructed play, skillfully directed by Richard Kent Green. The three member cast...is excellent."
- Gene Kilik, Town & Village
"...a smartly acted drama...cleverly written...Kovacsik and director Richard Kent Green ride the play's earnestness...
to the edge of comic satire...tricky for the actors, too...but they succeed."

- Mark Dundas Wood, BACKSTAGE

RULES
RKG directed a staged reading of a new play by Lynn Neiderman Silver, with Natalie Picoe, Natalie Mosco, David Pincus, Amir Arison and Gary Mink.
The WorkShop developed the project with Olympia Dukkakis, for whom, along with the playwright, the play was written.

12 ANGRY MEN
RKG played Juror # 2 in a staged reading of this classic, directed by Tony Sportiello, at a special fund-raising event for The WorkShop In August '03 - on the Main Stage at the WorkShop.

JACQUES BREL CABARET
On Saturday, June 8th of '02, Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church in Union, New Jersey inaugurated its Guest Artist Series with a Cabaret event:
BREL! LIFEDANCE.
RKG was honored to join Annie Chadwick in singing an hour-long program of Brel. The show was reprised in NYC at Danny's on Restaurant Row with Jim Price in the title role.

In late '03, RKG was the Production Supervisor for KICKING & SCREAMING, fellow-WorkShop-member Jennifer Jiles' funny and poignant solo piece about her four-year career as a Rockette. The show had a very successful run of two weeks at the WorkShop, followed by four Saturdays at Dillon's on 54th Street.
