Stripping in Front of a Crowd
Would you dare to be a burlesque dancer?
by Meg Ryan
(not that Meg Ryan - this one's a freelance writer...and hotter than the movie star)
I've never been into playing dress-up. I've certainly never wanted to play dress-up and then take it all off. In front of an audience. I already feel sexy--I don't need a roomful of strangers to tell me I am. Then one night I found myself at a burlesque show.
The performance I saw didn't feature lap dances and poles. This was Vaudeville Nouveau, a modern take on the classic variety shows of the '20s and '30s. The burly-girls this night, Rubie Fizz and Legs Malone, were not titillators out for attention or dollar bills. They looked like regular women--beautiful and slim, to be sure, but no more or less so than you or me. And judging by their acts, smart, too. And funny. With boatloads of moxie. And the audience, men and women alike, cheered them on. I was hooked and determined to find out the difference between enjoying my 32As in the privacy of my own blouse and baring them to the world.READ THE REST AT:
